Toronto Equestrian North excels at bringing riders and horses up through the riding school ranks to help them achieve their individual goals, whether they are looking for success in competition, to prepare for Equestrian Canada rider levels, or to develop the necessary skills for a lifetime enjoyment of the sport. With a goal to developing riders for the hunter, jumper and equitation rings, Toronto Equestrian North also focus on correct flatwork built through the basic principles of classical dressage and equitation.
Julianne Clifford is a lifelong rider and Equestrian Canada Certified Instructor with over a decade of coaching and training experience. Julianne enjoyed a successful junior riding career where she competed in the hunter and equitation divisions on the Ontario A Circuit, dabbled in eventing and field hunting in Quebec, and began grooming and assistant coaching at the age of 16. Julianne graduated from the Ontario High Performer Elite Student Athlete Program in 2010, and began coaching full time while attending university. In 2018, Julianne graduated from the University of Toronto with an Honours B.A in English and Philosophy. During her time at university before opening Toronto Equestrian, Julianne acted as Head Coach of a busy Toronto riding school where she coached full time, developed horses for the riding school program, established and coached a provincially successful show team, handled horses for television and photoshoots, and acted as a guest speaker and coach demonstrator at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair. Julianne specializes in instilling the solid and correct foundation needed to guarantee success as riders move up the ranks, and many who got their start with her have gone on to be successful at the provincial and national levels of the sport, and to certify as coaches themselves.

Sue Iwan is an Equestrian Canada Certified Instructor with 11 years of experience developing riders to a provincially competitive level. As a coach, Sue focuses on helping riders develop the skills needed to achieve success in the saddle, and to positively influence their relationship with their horses. Prior to opening Toronto Equestrian, Sue was the Director of a highly successful equestrian centre in downtown Toronto, and has years of comprehensive experience overseeing all operations of a large inner city riding school.
In addition to coaching, Sue holds an Honours B.A. in Classical Studies, a Masters in Ancient History, and an M.Phil in Medieval and Post-Modern Literature. She hails from a corporate background, and has extensive media, marketing, event management, and communications experience, Sue masterminds client and competitive experiences, and works tirelessly behind the scenes to make everything come together. In addition to training with Level 3 Coach Margie Gayford and Olympic Gold Medalist Tom Gayford, Sue is actively involved in animal welfare and is proud to own three rescued horses, including Toronto Equestrian's mascot Boone, whom she rescued from a kill-pen in Pennsylvania in 2018. |

Emily Hough is an Equestrian Canada Certified Instructor and an avid equestrian. She is also completing a Bachelor of Social Work from Toronto Metropolitan University with a special focus on youth support and suicide prevention. Emily holds a Diploma in Social Services from Humber College, from which she graduated with honours in 2015. She has several years experience in youth programming and child and youth support.
Emily has many years of experience caring for horses in traditional riding schools as well as in hippo-therapy/equine based therapy programs. She was an enthusiastic member of the Toronto Metropolitan University Equestrian Team (Go Rams Go!) for the Ontario Collegiate Equestrian Association's 2018/19 Circuit. Emily has an extensive knowledge of all things stable management, and is highly intuitive and sensitive to the personalities and needs of our herd. She is committed to ensuring students learn how to care for their equine partners before and after a ride, and can often be found around the barn teaching students about the day-to-day experience of caring for horses. |
Andrew Carenza is a lifelong equestrian with a passion for animal care. In addition to his full time career in graphic design, A certified instructor, Andrew can be found in the ring on weekends teaching riders the fundamentals of our sport, and helping them to develop skills and self-esteem. Andrew holds a BDes from York University and Sheridan College, and was a member of the York University Equestrian Team. Andrew is a talented artist, and is the designer behind the Toronto Equestrian logo as well as most of our advertising. Andrew has been leasing his thoroughbred mare Vintage for three years, and enjoys melding his talents for design and horses as a member of the Toronto Equestrian team.
