The Horse Palace is a Canadian Heritage Building located at Exhibition Place in downtown Toronto. The Palace first opened in 1931 and contains 1200 stalls over its two floors, as well as a schooling ring. It was constructed to support the equestrian events at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, and is considered a prominent example of Art Deco architecture.
During World War II, The Palace was used as barracks for Canadian soldiers waiting to be shipped overseas. In 2000, the Toronto Mounted Police consolidated their operations at the Horse Palace, bringing the unit together for the first time in 100 years. The Horse Palace represents nearly 90 years of equestrian history in Toronto. Toronto Equestrian is honoured to be a part of its legacy. |
